Discussion Board Number of Times Viewed

I have searched and searched for this and no one seems to be able to help.  Does anyone know how to get a column that shows how many times a post has been viewed?  I would think that this would be a basic part of and discussion board.  Having a column like this will give feedback to the users so that they know the posts are being read, and to the managers to know that people are using the dicussion board for what it is designed for.

PS.  I work for a Sheriff's Office in Florida.  We use SP as a comunication and have an intranet site where the Deputies can leave information for thier zone partners.

The out-of-box SharePoint discussion functionality does not include that feature; discussions in SharePoint are weak at best.  However, I believe you may find that feature in the Community Kit for SharePoint.

      Hi

I agree with Bob on this, sharepoint out-of-box discussion board can not provide such feature, and if you familiar to this feature then you must know there are many flaws on it.

There are two ways you can solve it:1. You could develop some application parts from sharepoint designer if you have enough time and energy.  2. you can use 3rd part components to solve this issue. I know one add-on can solve part of those issues, if you interested you can go to www.sharepointboost.com, or you can google soem of them.

    Good luck.
