I am curious about the technology behind this site

It seems you have chosen to use a Community Server implementation instead of the community kit for Sharepoint, and since this site is all about sharepoint, I am just curious why that would be - and what sort of limitations did the cks have that lead to this decision?

I am definitely looking forward to participating in this forum and learning and shareing Sharepoint and K2 information!

CKS doesn't provide the immense flexibility that CS offers as well as social networking tools.  Yes, you are right that we're using the latest version of community server.

We decided to use Community Server because of its rich community and social networking features.  Many, but not all, of these features can be found in MOSS and the CKS but still required a fairly significant amount of development.

You will always here me say "SharePoint isn't the end-all solution for every business problem".  This happened to be one of them.

Just an FYI.  Telligent has released a new version of Community Server, Evolution, which has deep SharePoint integration.

We intend on installing this soon...
